OCTOBER #2

CHILDFUND AUSTRALIA - INDONESIAN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER

Following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, which struck just after 6pm on 28 September, triggering a tsunami that tore through Palu and Donggala, which are home to a combined 600,000 people, we at DA$AW knew that we had to help out here, where thousands of young children, many orphaned, are in urgent need of assistance.

More than 1234 people have been confirmed dead and almost 200,000 people need urgent humanitarian assistance following a series of earthquakes that triggered the tsunami in the heavily populated Central Sulawesi province in Indonesia.

Initial reports estimate that half the buildings in the area have collapsed or are severely damaged, and that 61,867 people are now displaced due to homes being destroyed.

Right now, children urgently need food, clean water, shelter and medicine.

ChildFund Indonesia is working with a local partner to assess the most urgent needs, and distribute emergency aid to children and families in the affected areas.

ChildFund Australia is an independent and non-religious international development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in many of the world’s most disadvantaged communities. See more at their website https://www.childfund.org.au/

Your donations to DA$AW will help just a little in providing children with the emergency supplies they need to recover from this devastating natural disaster.
